Gas Saving Products

With concerns about global warming, it makes sense to look for ways we can reduce our fuel consumption and the amount of toxic emissions we are emitting into the environment.

A good start is to reduce gas consumption. To achieve this reduction, a multi-pronged approach is best. The 4 components of fuel cost can be expressed as: car x distance x fuel x habits = cost.

Car Purchase

If you are in the market for a new or second hand car, it is very wise to purchase carefully. Even if you have to invest more upfront, the car's gas consumption should be a priority consideration. Depending on your budget, cars that run on natural gas or hybrid electric cars can significantly reduce consumption.

If you are not in the market for a new car, there are other steps to reduce consumption. These include modifying your driving habits, conversion to natural gas and the retrofitting of gas saving products.

Gas saving products can be explored at GreenSupplyEnergy.com.

Energy Saving

Although gas saving products might not lead to an enormous reduction in consumption on an individual level, even minor gas savings result in enormous gas savings for the global community.

By installing gas saving products and making small changes in the way you drive, you can save significantly on gas consumption.

Gas Saving Tips

Reduce Usage: When moving around locally, walk or ride a bicycle. To travel longer distances on a regular basis, start or join a car pool.

Plan each trip: Avoid traffic jams by listening to radio reports and avoiding peak hour traffic.

Don't speed: Driving under the speed limit can result in a gas savings of between 7% and 23%.

Idling: Don't turn on your car until you are ready to leave, even in cold weather 45 seconds is more than ample to warm it up.

Air-conditioning: This can add as much as 14% to fuel consumption. Turn it off as soon as the car is comfortable.

Correct gear: Change gears as soon as possible, without straining the engine.

Regular Servicing: Service your car on a regular basis to ensure spark plugs, air filter, etc. are functioning optimally.

Tire Pressure: Correct tire pressure and wheel alignment can extend tire life and reduce gas consumption by 2% to 3%.

Accelerate Smoothly: Avoiding aggressive driving, rapid acceleration and sudden breaking will reduce gas consumption. Fast driving in low gears can consume up to 45% more fuel.

Minimize drag: Open windows and sunroofs can contribute to a 10% increase in fuel consumption especially at high speeds. Remove roof racks and any heavy items from the trunk.

Gas Purchase: Do not overfill the tank, buy gas at cool times of the day, and select gas types that reduce consumption. Do not overfill the tank.
